Beverage cartons & the environment
The beverage carton industry is focused on making every step of the life of the beverage carton work with and for nature, from the sourcing of the wood fibre to the disposal of the used carton.
On average, the beverage carton is 75% paperboard which is made from wood fibre – a natural and renewable resource when sourced from forests that are responsibly managed. ACE members insist on management practices that support biodiversity, uphold and exceed environmental legislation and do not deplete valuable resources for future generations.
The importance of traceability to ACE members is reflected in their voluntary commitment to ensure that only wood fibre from legal and acceptable sources is used in their cartons.

The beverage carton industry also recognises the importance of protecting biodiversity, as forests are a valuable resource, both in sustaining a healthy balance to the earth’s atmosphere, and in protecting the wildlife which inhabits it.
To respond to the climate change challenge, ACE members work continuously to lower the carbon footprint of their products and processes. Equally, they are committed to the recycling and recovery of all materials once the product has been used.
