The beverage carton industry in Europe
ACE beverage carton members Tetra Pak, SIG Combibloc and Elopak manufacture over 95% of beverage cartons in Europe. They currently develop, manufacture and market systems for the processing, packaging and distribution of food and produce packaging material at 20 European plants.
Most of the paperboard they use in cartons for the European market is produced at one of the four paper mills in Sweden or Finland, owned by Stora Enso and Korsnäs - also members of ACE. Together the mills and manufacturers employ close to 30,000 people worldwide.
Throughout the life-cycle of its products, the industry plays a role in preventing waste, by protecting food against wastage and by committing to the recycling and recovery of beverage cartons after use.
